General Overview Analysis

This is choropleth of shootings by state. From this we can see that states like Illinois, Texas, and California have the highest amounts of mass shootings. In addition the east coast seems to have a higher shooting rate then the west besides California. Interstingly states with more relaxed gun laws don't seem to have high mass shooting rates. Politicians in support of relaxed gun laws may point this out in debate. However, the graph doesn't show us where the guns are bought so they could be being purchased in more relaxed states, and then used in stricter states.

This graph is a graph of shootings in porportion to their census populations. This means that these are the states in which an individual is most likely to be affected by a mass shooting. This is important for states with smaller populations to be aware of since they will likely not have as many total shootings as the large states.
